Mangaluru: The Bearys Public School’s Annual Day event and His Grace Montessori’s Silver Jubilee celebrations themed ‘Glorious India’ and ‘Adventurous World’ were held in the Mangalore’s Town Hall on Friday.

Syed Muhammad Beary, the Chairman and Managing Trustee of Bearys Academy of Learning, presided over the event while Mangaluru City Police Commissioner, N Shashikumar was present as the Chief Guest.

Addressing the gathering, the city’s top-cop said it was a visionary thinking that established an educational Institution about 116 years ago, even before Mahatma Gandhi began his freedom struggle.

“Its amazing how the founders of this group realized the importance of education and initiated what was needed to be done,” the commissioner added.

He also stressed upon the importance of a mother’s role in the upbringing and shaping of the characters of children.

“The Mothers should teach their kids the importance of time right from the beginning, and then they should be taught hard work and importance of efforts.” He said.

“Moral values should not just be taught in schools, but also in the home. Children should become our wealth. We should always dedicate time for the sake of our children’s future” he further added.

“Children are likely to go astray if they are neglected without being imparted with a good education. We should always possess the self-awareness and consciousness that we will be the ones to suffer the appropriate punishment if that happens”, he said.

Muneera Akhtar, the founder member of Montessori United, participated in the event as a guest. Principal Khatijatul Khubra and the headmistress of the school Christine Khan were present during the occasion. Amna Akmal delivered the welcome address and Muhammed Jufnan greeted the gathering. Muhammed Amin Sheikh and Ahmed Mubarak Ishan were the program presenters.
